This beautiful little Canadian Spec Mini 1000 was originally sold brand new from a British Leyland dealership in BC, Canada in early 1979. After a minor fender-bender in 1983, the car spent the next 30 years stored in the owner’s garage before a professional restoration was done by Hunter Classic Sports in 2013. The restoration included a new inner and outer fender, sub frames and 998 cc engine rebuild, new: brake and fuel lines, clutch, alternator, front and rear bumpers, springs and Hi-Lo’s, battery, exhaust, and door sill plates. The interior was almost like new so little was needed there except cleaning and a new headliner. All original engine/body numbers are correct and the car has zero rust. The stock Sand Glow body color re-spray was brightened a bit, and a white top-spray added. The description and photos of the entire restoration/rebuild is on a Mini Mania thread at:
I purchased the car in 2014 and it comes with a clear Washington State title and registration. The car is pretty close to stock with a few upgrades. Since the restoration I’ve added: four new JBW ML 4.5x10 wheels, chrome lug nuts, and center caps with new Falken 165/70R10 tires (stock spare wheel and tire are like new as well), new polished valve cover (original stock valve cover included), NOS heater valve, new horn, period Mountney GT leather steering wheel (original stock steering wheel included), new K&N air filter, new exterior door handles, new windshield washer fluid and radiator over-flow reservoirs, new 2-button front grille and grille surround pieces, new radiator and hoses, new engine temperature sending unit, a pair of brand new Hella fog lamps (mounted but not wired in yet), new turn signal switch, and a Kenwood KMM-BT312 stereo with 4 speakers (original working factory AM push-button radio included). Also included with the car is a ready-to-restore Rokee curved wood dash kit, original owner’s manual, factory service manual, original jack and tool kit, a pair of new white bonnet stripes (one existing stripe has a tiny imperfection), and a like-new fitted car cover.
I’ve pampered this little guy and the car is in overall excellent condition throughout including the original brown vinyl seats, door panels, and carpeting. There are a few small issues you may decide to tinker with including: driver’s door won’t lock from the outside, the dimmer switch for the dash lights doesn’t work, interior courtesy light switch on the passenger door doesn’t work, and 2 of the 5 rear window defroster wires have an open circuit and don’t work. Oil has been changed every 2,000 miles and it has not been driven unless the roads were dry. Most of the maintenance work I’ve had done has been performed by Chuck Heleker, Mini mechanic and former SAMOA (Seattle Area Mini Owner’s Association) president. Current actual mileage is 83,432 Km (51,842 miles). I’m down-sizing my number of vehicles and the car is priced below appraised value.
